LATM started in 1992 in Los Angeles. The city was going through hard times. Many young people didn’t have adults to guide them.

For 35 years, LATM has pioneered a team-based mentoring model that brings trained adult volunteers together with small groups of middle school students, providing consistent guidance, encouragement, and positive role models during a critical stage of adolescent development.

Through safe, supportive relationships, students build confidence, resilience, leadership, communication, teamwork, and other essential social emotional skills that strengthen decision making and prepare them for success.

To date, LATM has served more than 35,000 students across Los Angeles and beyond.
