Programs

Our programs give middle school students the support they need to succeed.

The Power of Team-Based Mentoring

Most mentoring programs match one student with one mentor. We do something different. Each student gets a team of 2-3 mentors.
Here's why it works better:

More Chances to Connect

If a student doesn't click with one mentor, they have two others.

Different Perspectives

Students learn from teachers, college students, and working professionals.

Better Support

If one mentor is busy, the team keeps going.

Real Community

Students see adults working together to support them.

LATM's Programs

At LATM, our programs are designed to meet middle school students where they are — academically, socially, and emotionally. Through structured virtual mentoring and research-informed curriculum, we help students build the skills they need to navigate school, relationships, and the digital world with confidence.

Our approach combines trained mentor teams, interactive learning, and consistent weekly engagement to create meaningful impact at scale.

e-Works
Team-Based Virtual Mentoring After School

LATM’s e-Works program makes mentoring flexible, collaborative, and impactful in an after-school setting.

Mentors are placed in small teams of 2–3 volunteers and matched with a group of 12–15 middle school students in a virtual environment. Using LATM’s interactive Essentials curriculum, mentor teams guide students through activities that build key social-emotional skills.

How It Works:

When: 1 hour per week, October through June
Where: Online from anywhere
Group Size: 12-15 students
Mentors: 2-3 mentors per group
Field Trips: 2-4 Saturday trips (museums, parks, college campuses)
Cost: 100% FREE (including all trips)

Benefits For Students:

e-Works is open to all middle school students (grades 6-8). We work with schools in Los Angeles and San Diego counties.

ClassWorks
Social-Emotional Learning During the School Day

LATM’s ClassWorks program brings structured social-emotional development directly into the school day.

In each virtual classroom, 2–3 mentors work with approximately 30 middle school students, guiding them through an engaging, skills-based curriculum designed to strengthen social-emotional learning.

How It Works:

When: 1 hour per week during the school day
Where: Virtual classroom
Group Size: About 30 students per session
Mentors: 2-3 mentors per group
Cost: 100% FREE

Benefits For Students:

ClassWorks is only available at select middle schools. Ask your school counselor if ClassWorks is offered at your school.

Our Curriculum

Both e-Works and ClassWorks use our proven curriculum. We teach two key programs:

Essentials

Building essential skills for middle school

LATM’s Essentials curriculum is a mentor-supported social-emotional learning program focused on helping middle school students build the foundational skills they need to succeed both academically and socially.

Through guided activities and discussion, students strengthen self-awareness, decision-making, communication, relationship skills, and emotional regulation. Essentials serves as the foundation for students’ personal and academic growth.

HeroWorks

Preparing students for high school

LATM’s HeroWorks curriculum equips students with the core social-emotional skills needed to successfully navigate the critical transition to high school and remain engaged beyond ninth grade.

By cultivating confidence, connection, and motivation, HeroWorks helps students stay engaged and succeed academically during one of the most pivotal periods in their educational journey.

Proven to Work

We don’t just hope our programs work. We measure the results.

Every Student Deserves Support

Middle school is a pivotal time when confidence, identity, and direction are taking shape. Caring adults who believe in young people can make the difference between doubt and possibility, helping students see their own potential more clearly.

With the right guidance, students can build the foundation to thrive in school and beyond.
