For over 30 years, we’ve helped 35,000 young people.
Our 11,000 volunteer mentors have given 3 million hours of support.
Our mission is to guide middle school students growing up in under-resourced communities to recognize and reach their full potential as members of our community.
Through a school-based team approach to mentoring, both virtually and in person, young adolescents are given the tools and support necessary to make positive choices during a critical period in their lives.
Los Angeles Team Mentoring (LATM) was founded in response to the 1992 LA Civil Unrest, launching its team-based mentoring program (“TeamWorks”) at Horace Mann Middle School.
LATM pioneered the team-based mentoring model. It was a new concept designed to build leadership skills and help youth make positive decisions.
The 2008 Great Recession led to widespread displacement of Los Angeles families, worsening school enrollment rates as students migrated out of the region.
In response to the 2020 covid-19 pandemic, LATM developed a virtual mentoring program (“e-Works”) that allowed them to reach and support students while the schools were closed.
In 2022, LATM developed a hybrid mentoring program (“ClassWorks”) that brought its social-emotional learning curriculum directly into the classroom.
LATM expanded its footprint to serve youth in San Diego & Fresno, helping them build essential skills and increase positive outcomes.
To date, LATM has expanded across Southern and Central California, impacting over 34,000 youth through 3 million hours of service.
